WELCOME!

Thanks for coming by the blog. We'll have lots of fun, show lots of photos and hopefully make some new friends along the way. My main photography site has everything you need to know about my services, but here you'll find the latest and greatest images.

ABOUT ME

During the day, I'm an editor at 60 Minutes in New York. I've been at CBS News for 17 years. When I'm not editing, I'm out and about photographing happy families and couples in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut (I'm happy to fly to Paris, by the way!). I like to keep things real, fun and fresh, and I strive to capture you as you are.

Enjoy!

Ridgewood NJ - July 4th Parade & Fireworks Slideshow

There is simply nothing like the Fourth of July in Ridgewood. It’s exhilirating and quaint at the same time. Hundreds of people set up empty chairs days in advance from Godwin Ave to E. Ridgewood Ave, then all the way to Linwood Ave to reserve their favorite spot to watch the parade. Some don’t have to go very far because the parade passes right in front of their house! From fire departments of all the neighboring towns to World War II veterans to seven year-old baton twirlers, the Ridgewood parade has it all.

But before the parade, there is the traditional flag-raising ceremony. This year, Taylor Magrath, who just graduated from Ridgewood High School, gave an eloquent speech and Jim Roth sang as the flag was about to make its way up the flagpole at Wilsey Square. Philanthropist David Bolger served as grand marshal.

The parade was two full hours of marching bands, music, antique cars, clowns, veterans and elementary school floats. It was pure Ridgewood pride!

Later that evening, thousands of people filled Veterans Field behind the Village Hall. Four “Fallin’ Angels” skydivers came soaring down toward the field but only three made the target! An announcement was made that the fourth skydiver landed on a residential street about a half-mile away! The skydivers signaled the beginning of the annual fireworks display by July 4 Ever. It was simply breathtaking.

If you’re looking for small-town charm and big-city fireworks, Ridgewood is the place to be.

Special thanks to Gary Schulze and the Ridgewood Fourth of July Committee for allowing me to photograph the parade.

Please turn up your speakers and enjoy highlights from the 99th Annual Ridgewood Fourth of July parade and fireworks.

Looking forward to the 100th Anniversary next year!!!

A nice way to spend Mother’s Day

I had a blast with Karen and Mike’s kids last Sunday. The kids were ready to go bright and early. I love how sweet Theo looks holding Karen’s hand.

I love this one of Theo. He looks like a little peanut, even though he’s a big boy! I always get down low when I photograph kids, but I also like to shoot from a higher angle because this is how parents see their kids.

Theo was practically addicted to Cheerios during the session. We managed to get them out of his hands for a few pictures, but I wanted to get a few photos of him with his special Cheerios cup. In this photo, he’s obviously thinking, “Stay away from my Cheerios!!”

Then it was time for a little baseball. Despite Mike’s 90-mile-an-hour fast ball, Jack still knocked a few out of the park.

These are some of my favorites of Jack.

Jack was a Wii baseball champion! Maybe it was from all that practice in the backyard with his dad.

And even Theo got in on the act.

And a big hug for mom on Mother’s Day!

Thanks for asking me to photograph your family Karen and Mike. And thank you Carla for referring Karen to me.

David Grann on The Colbert Report

My friend, David Grann, just released his best-seller, The Lost City of Z. I photographed David for the book jacket.

He has been tearing up the airwaves with radio and television interviews. Here’s the best of them all! David on The Colbert Report.

The Faces of 2008

Happy New Year!

I was fortunate to have a variety of wonderful clients this year, ranging from old friends to new families who were referred by previous clients. From Manhattan to Manhassett to Martha’s Vineyard, from Tuxedo Park to Trumbull, and of course, Ridgewood, I’m grateful to all the proud parents and kooky kids with whom I ran, jumped, crawled, giggled and froze (that one’s for you Melanie and Neil!).

To all my wedding photography clients, your events were magical and memorable. The attention to detail and personal touches amazed me! Thank you for including me.

Please turn on your speakers and enjoy a look back at the Faces of 2008…
